Tree Care Consultations
Mikl Brawner, founder and proprietor of Harlequin’s Gardens Nursery, is available year-round for tree care consultations. Mikl draws on his 37 years of experience in the tree care business for on-site consultations to help you with your trees in a multitude of ways.
He can help:
- Identify the trees and shrubs on your property.
- Evaluate the health, structural strength and safety of your trees and shrubs.
- Recommend the most appropriate feeding and watering regimens for your trees and shrubs.
- Diagnose tree/shrub problems and diseases and identify their causes and non-toxic remedies.
- Suggest which varieties of trees are most appropriate to plant (and the best locations) for shade, wind tolerance, drought tolerance, beauty, fruit, and screening.
- Make recommendations to protect or save trees prior to excavations or construction.
- Make pruning recommendations and tree-care company recommendations.
- Do on-the-spot (from the ground) minor pruning of shrubs and small trees.
- Demonstrate how to make correct pruning cuts and explain basic pruning principles for establishing a strong structure, eliminating weak, problematic branches, and establishing beautiful and balanced forms.
- Advise on culture and pruning of fruit trees to produce higher quality fruit.

Mikl’s consulting fee is $75/hour, with a one-hour minimum charge.
